Taqueria Piedra Grande Reviews

Just wow.... amazing late night tacos that you would definitely want to have sober as well! (Open until 3am/4am) The tortillas are homemade and the meat is flavorful. Remember to bring cash and expect a line.

Best tacos in Austin... Hands. Down. I was fortunate enough to misunderstand some directions to Rositas up the road and ended up at this gem. It's a no frills straightforward authentic experience with the best seasoned meat wrapped in homemade tortillas that you can buy. Bistec, chorizo and barbacoa are phenomenal. Phenomenal as in you'd sacrifice a good night of sleep to wake up at 2 am to go buy more and STILL not be able to sleep while laying awake thinking about going back again in the morning for more. This is more of a grab and go kind of place so take your tacos and find a secluded place where no one can hear you moan with delight. Whether you know authentic or not, just GO. You won't be disappointed. And if you are, you're probably unaware of life's finer pleasures. Which is ok... just sad though. A QUICK NOTE I've read the reviews of people calling the staff rude. But you've got to put those in perspective. This place is not a trendy chic Eastside food truck with an instagram following that has national presence and draw. It's located on the side of a busy road in an inconvenient location where the staff has to sit all day regardless or not if you come skipping up to the window with a smile and a pending yelp review in your back pocket. These are authentic people making authentic tacos as a way of life. Not as a social experiment. Go here. Often.

Legit taco truck with homemade tortillas corn or flour. Open late and super cheap $2 tacos. Green hot sauce makes my eyes tear but I love it, not the kind of spicy that lingers too long (unless you have a lot of it). Random taco trucks are the beeeeeest not the ones in a lot full of other food trucks...

I visited Taqueria Piedra Grande 2 on a late evening. We drove by and found the very well-lit food truck open for business. The food truck had a covered dine-in area and a good selection of foods to choose from. We tried the beef quesadillas, a bacon and egg breakfast burrito (gasp, I had forgotten cheese), and a barbacoa wrap. 1. Barbacoa wrap I ordered it only with cilantro. I normally enjoy the fatty barbacoa and the simplicity of cilantro on a flour tortilla. Unfortunately, the barbacoa was dry and not very tasteful. The amount of barbacoa was good; I wished it was more moist. 2. Breakfast Burrito (Bacon & Egg) It was very silly of me but I read straight off the menu and it didn't say cheese and I didn't think to add cheese. Cheese makes everything better! There was a good amount of egg and bacon and the flour tortilla was just right. 3. Beef Quesadilla I only had a bite, but man it was good. Really, really good. The fajita beef was perfect and savory and moist. There's just enough cheese. Even as I'm writing this review I'm thinking about having one right now. If I'm ever that way again, I'll definitely order correctly and give everything another try. On my maiden trip, I was very impressed and plan to go again.

I've come here twice and each time did not disappoint. The Gringas con todos is the perfect combination of delicious tender meat, over melted white cheese and a buttery flour tortilla. I asked the lady what meat of hers is her favorite and she confidently said they're all good. I've had only bistek, barbacoa, and carnitas so far, and it's pretty much a tie. All meats were juicy, tender, flavorful and a generous portion. The green salsa is a perfect spiciness, but if you want more heat that's also smoky, try the red salsa. The horchata comes in a giant cup and is the best antidote after eating the spicy salsa. For three gringas tacos and a big cup of horchata, we only paid $16. There is a $1 fee if you pay with card, so bring cash, and come ready to order in Spanish.
